The middle of August and I haven't hit 200 kg yet.

Good thing this is just for fun

1381 Checkon, The new goal is to have something for Halloween

Bild

1421 Checkon, should I go to a weigh off, and that is not for sure, the goal is not to finish last :icon_neutral

The 1381 first pumpkin of three has split open.

Not a big deal for weight as it was very small (200 lbs), but one less for Halloween.

The village children will be disappointed this year.

Does anyone else have a 1263 THE * this year?

This picture is a beautiful 8 day old. It is at least the 10th pumpkin, all the others died around the 10-12 day.

I must be doing something wrong.

Bild

I do have one good thing to mention, our vegetable garden is having a nice year.

We are preparing to make salsa from the tomato/chili/jalapeno/onions that we have in the garden, here is a prepration picture.

Bild

The recipe we are using depends on the amount of tomato and chili/jalapeno one has, here is ours this year:

13 lbs tomato
3 lbs chili/jalapeno
14 cloves garlic
10 onions
6 tbl sugar
8 tbl salt
5 tbl oregano
8 tbl cilantro
2.5 tbl black pepper

I will post more pics tommorow.

1263 THE* 10th pumpkin seems to still be alive, this is my last chance to get one on this plant

Bild

1381 Checkon, the first pumpkin in the middle is rotting, the one on the left is estimated at 223 lbs

Bild

1421 Checkon (stumpless) is doing better then I thought it would, but has no chance to be noticed by anyone except me, estimated 543 lbs

Bild

I have been growing pumpkins for 11 years now, and one thing is for sure, giant pumpkin growers must learn to be patient, sometimes it takes decades before one grows a nice one.

Is it 2013 yet :blink

1381 and 1421 have been growing slow all summer, now they are growing even slower. It is funny how time changes everything, 10 years ago when I first started this hobby my 1421 would be a contender for first place, now it will not even be in the top 15.

1421 - 608 lbs estimate

Bild

1381 - 314 lbs estimate

The 1421 has stopped growing with 23 days to go before the weigh off, hope it can stay together, only 617 lbs estimated.

The 1381 is growing very slowly, it would be nice to add another 140 lbs this month, presently 360 lbs estimated.

Last 2 pictures of the 1421 before the Lautre weigh off. Even though this is not a true giant I enjoyed very much growing this one and think I did good on a stumpless plant.

With the weather so beautiful as it is I could not resist sharing with you what it looks like in Knopp when the sun is going down.

This is why I love Germany!

hehe .... Owen is romantic.
Owen absolutely beautiful pictures!
One question, if you allow your .... Black-Eyed Susan in White .... can you get them seeds?
And your Stelts looks like a rock. Great shape!
Have fun and good luck in Kaiserslautern.
Best greetings to Martina and Luke

Janni, I am to old to be a romantic :up s:

If the Black Eyed Susan produces any seeds I will let you know, we have had them in the past and they are very hard to germinate.

***Checkon Janni, not Stelts!

zooplan, what is Taro?

Owen sorry, my mistake :up s:
Taro also because I had googled before.
 Taro
It seems the plant in the last picture.
And I know this is the Black Eyed Susan germinate hard. Of 30 seeds germinate with me, 3-4 seeds.

Thanks Janni for the Taro explanation.

zooplan, no we don't eat them, we just like them because the leaves are so big, we call them elephant ears.
